The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in Desert Gold are premium open-ear wireless earbuds designed to deliver personal audio while keeping the ear canals completely unobstructed. Using Bose OpenAudio technology, they direct sound toward the listener while allowing surrounding environmental sounds to remain naturally audible. The clip-on design combines Bose Immersive Audio, Bluetooth multipoint, built-in microphones, adjustable EQ, Auto Volume, IPX4 water resistance, and an extended battery system for commuting, office use, travel, exercise, and everyday listening.

Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the Ultra Open Earbuds do not sit inside the ear canal. Their cuff-style construction uses a flexible Flex arm that wraps around the outer ear, positioning the speaker section near the ear opening while the battery section rests behind the ear. This distributes weight across both sides of the ear for a secure, lightweight fit.

Bose OpenAudio technology is engineered to direct detailed sound toward the ear while minimizing unnecessary sound leakage. Because the ear canal remains open, users can continue hearing conversations, traffic, announcements, coworkers, and other environmental sounds without activating a separate transparency mode.

The earbuds also support Bose Immersive Audio, which spatially processes conventional stereo content to create a broader, more externalized soundstage. This can make audio feel less confined to the immediate position of the earbuds and more spacious around the listener.

Battery life reaches up to approximately 7 hours of standard playback, with up to approximately 4 hours when Immersive Audio is active. The charging case provides up to approximately 19.5 additional hours with Immersive Audio disabled, bringing total playback across multiple charges to roughly 26 hours under standard conditions. Standby time reaches up to approximately 48 hours.

A 10-minute quick charge provides up to approximately two hours of playback, while the charging case recharges through USB-C.

Bluetooth multipoint allows the earbuds to maintain connections with two compatible devices simultaneously, making it easier to switch between devices such as a smartphone and computer. Built-in microphones support calls, while physical button controls provide direct control of playback, calls, volume, and listening functions.

An IPX4 water-resistance rating protects the earbuds against sweat and splashing water. The charging case carries an IPX1 rating and should be kept relatively dry.

The Desert Gold finish combines a dark base with warm metallic gold exterior accents, giving the earbuds a distinctive jewelry-inspired appearance.
